Innovative scale-up Climate Tech Company

This Director Operations role is a unique opportunity for a leading position in a very innovative scale-up Climate Tech company, winner of the Global Innovation Award: “Renewable Material of the Year 2021” and the nr. 1 fast growing climate tech companies in the Netherlands 2021 (Financieel dagblad).

An exciting and challenging job for a seasoned entrepreneurial Operations Director who is passionate about sustainability and with the right pioneering mindset and fighting spirit and a good sense for business development.

Our client, Plantics B.V. (www.plantics.com) located in Arnhem (45 fte), develops new, completely circular bio-composites, foams, and coatings and the corresponding production processes. All these materials contain a unique new type of thermoset bio-resin based on a revolutionary invention by the University of Amsterdam. In close collaboration with partners, these materials are used to develop high quality, circular and CO2 negative products for a variety of applications. Plantics has protected the materials and the production processes worldwide with several patent families.

• Primarily responsible for the development, realization and the management of the global ‘manufacturing of Plantics resins, products and intermediates. In house as well as via external partners, optimally balanced and in line with the strategic goal to grow the production output exponentially.
• Member of the Business Team. A team which has the task to lead and guide Plantics, a successful Scale -up for the production and development of bio-materials, into an established global player.
• Focus on both operational management and supply chain management as well as the development of the operations and supply chain strategies.
• Supporting Partners in setting up production facilities.
• Production and technology support Partners network.
• Management, development and realization of the production of resins and intermediates (in- & extern) in line with the strategy.
• Pilot production of end products, in close cooperation with partners.
• Development of a sustainable supply chain network for raw materials.
• Professionalization of all purchasing activities in line with our values.
• Definition and implementation of an overall, sound and strict Q-HSE policy.
• Management order desk/logistics.

• Bachelor or Master degree, preferably both in a technology and a business area
• Extensive Operations experience at Director level in a discrete high-tech manufacturing company.
• Broad experience with operations; production, supply chain management, procurement, outsourcing, project management and quality management.
• Significant experience in expanding a scale-up to an established international player.
• Willingness to invest, having ‘’skin in the game’’, is strongly preferred.
• Personal profile: entrepreneurial, strategic sense and vision with a hands-on attitude matching the phase of the organization, a natural leader and a team player, excellent communication skills, speaks the language of both the operations and the business and connects easily with team members with diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Experience with ERP-sytem.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office tools.
• English language skills, both spoken and written, are an absolute must.
